Thumb Fired Palm Pistol

There may be others, but I found this one

Single shot, but better than nothing if arthritis won't allow firing a conventional pistol

It was written April 19, 2010. There is a time stamp in the URL of the page...y2010m4d19.

y = 2010
m = 4 (April)
d = 19

I did a little searching and found what "may" be more current information on the Palm Pistol. I say "may" because the article is dated April 19, but no year is given.

I also emailed the company asking for the status of availability.

I'm a born pessimist, so I wouldn't recommend sending any deposit money yet, but it is a very "out of the box" design. According to what I did find, the pistol has been modified from a 9mm to a .38 spl to allow for a rimmed cartridge for easier extraction.

I will post any reply I get from the company.

It is from this year ..... 2010

The reply was from this morning, 5/1/2010 AM. I do not know the date of the link.

As far as BATF, last I heard from Matt was this:

My local ATF representative directed me to the correct person in at their Firearms Technology Branch to initiate my request for evaluation and classification. True, they were not as fast as I would have liked but they are understaffed and manadated by Congress to do their job with minimal resources, whether some agree with them or not. ... Putting conspiracy theories aside, I do not believe the agency would have approved my design as "pistol" in bad faith. ...They easily could have denied me, particularly if it was a initially submitted as a multishot design. ... If they choose to redefine "pistol" in such a way as to make the Palm Pistol AOW, the worst thing that happens is buyers would need to pay the $5 ATF tax and go through the permitting process. If I were handicapped and needed a firearm to defend myself, this would be a small price to pay.

So those are my thoughts. Again, I appreciate your courtesy and would be glad to answer any questions offline. My personal email is mcarmel@constitutionarms.com.

For what it is worth, I received a very prompt response to my email requesting development and availability status. Here is what I received a short time ago.

Working prototype due in a few weeks. Endurance testing to begin. Still hoping for production by end of year. I have added your email to my distribution list.

Matt
