Posted - 11/10/2010 : 20:59:54 Here's something I havn't seen pondered around here. How many different guns do you use for EDC? If you routinely carry a backup gun, count it too.
I try to keep the number to a minimum, and make sure all of them function almost the same. Right now I've got three: A springfield XD9, which for years was my only one, a recently added Kahr PM9, and a certain notorius pocket gun by Ruger which cannot be named (It's strictly a backup gun only)
The XD is the most common thing right now, but once I get some more add-ons for the Kahr they will have some fierce competition. I don't have many holsters for the Kahr, nor do I have night sights, which gives the XD an advantage, not to mention that massive ammo capacity one (XD with one spare mag has 27 rounds, Kahr with one spare mag has 15)
There is no denying the Kahr is way more comfortable and concealable, so once I get some more accesories for it, I might actually carry it more often.
Regardless, the key thing is that all my EDC guns function the same. They are all "point and shoot" autoloaders with no manuel safeties. So is the Glock 17 I carry on the job. Makes shifting between the different types pretty easy as they really don't require any different techniques.
So how many different EDC guns do you use? |

Posted - 11/18/2010 : 21:16:54 Colt Commander 95% of the time with a Ruger LCP the other 5%. The only reason I carry the Colt most of the time is because I'm not allowed ta carry this.....

....and it don't conceal so well. |

Posted - 11/14/2010 : 12:43:26 Glock 19 and 23 and Walther PPS. I like the fact that the actions are the same.
I do have a Sig 229 and a Springfield TRP that I have rigs setup so that I can carry them. I have never carried the TRP...... not enough practice with the safety. Carried the Sig in the beginning, but not so much in the last year. I just like the glock and PPS better for carrying. |

Posted - 11/13/2010 : 16:02:02 I have two. My primary EDC (the one that I really carry almost every day) is a Kahr K40. I've had this gun for 14 years and trust ti implicitly. The K40 sees carry about 90-905% of the time. My secondary EDC is a Taurus 605 (2" .357 mag snubby). The snubby is pressed into service when the clothes I'm wearing won't work with the K40. It's also stone axe reliable, but I prefer to have 7 in the gun and 7 more in the spare mag over the 5 + 10 in speed strips that the snubby provides. |

g23 50% of the time. sig 229 40% of the time. various 1911s, M&Ps, BHPs, etc. the other 10% of the time combined.

i agree completely that this is important for most. as ive said many times, i do not recommend weapons with manual safeties for carry weapons. that said, if you train enough you can truly be instinctual with either but it requires far more training than most are willing to put in. |

Posted - 11/12/2010 : 18:37:56 My G23 has become my main deal. I simply love my Ruger SP101 snubbie, but I just can't argue 5 vs 14 rounds if I'm only carrying one. I carry my Smith 442 when I'm light, but my range time has proven to me, it's just not all that outside of 7 yards. The SP101 IS the mac daddy of short revolvers. The Glock 23 IS the mac daddy of semi-compact semi-autos. I did acquire my rifle finally tonight: Colt AR-15...more after I test it...... |

Posted - 11/12/2010 : 18:27:44 Right now I am working away from and have only one handgun with me so the G27 as a bug is at home. I carry my G23 at all times.
Usually I have the .357 sig Barrell in it but I have changed back to the .40 because .357 sig ammo is very hard to get here, therefore I can go to the range and not have to look high and low and spend all my money on ammo that I cant find.
I can find well priced .40 on every street corner. When I get back home, I will switch back to .357 and probably give my G22 some carry time.
So to answer the question: 3. G23,G22 and G27 as the bug when I am home.

Posted - 11/12/2010 : 13:03:54 PF9 seems to be my main EDC right now, but I my Pug .44 snub nose and 9VE occasionally get alternated with it. I'm considering a .45 ACP in the future, but I haven't made up my mind which one yet. It will probably be an M&P, Kahr or 1911 style. |

Posted - 11/12/2010 : 09:43:49 4- Main carry is Springfield 9mm EMP or commander-sized Sig 1911 C3. Apart from barrel length, they both have the same controls and dimensions. For greater concealment it's a Walther 9mm PPS and there is always a BUG Ruger LCP in my back pocket. The best thing about the 1911s is that they can share the same holster so very little changes when I move from the EMP to the Sig C3. |

Posted - 11/11/2010 : 08:49:20 It's interesting to see so many people here carry backup guns in their pocket. I'd like to do that, and I've certainly got the right guns for it, but it doesn't really work for me because I use my pockets for other things. My wallet and keys fill up my strong side pocket, while my cell phone and spare mag go in my weak side one. As such, I really end up carrying a backup. |

Posted - 11/11/2010 : 08:31:42 At this point I carry a newly acquired Glock 27. I carry my Glock 23 when the day allows a sweatshirt or coat, but after I get a few more trips to the range with my 27, I'm sure that's all I will carry until I can get my mitts on a 29. |

Posted - 11/11/2010 : 08:28:42 Between my Glocks, 1911s, M&Ps, and the 442 as my BUG, I have 10 guns that I carry. My S&W 1911PD has been seeing all the carry time as of this year except for when I'm traveling. Until I get a Kahr PM9 (next month hopefully) I'll continue to carry 1911s. My plastic guns have all became my student's training guns, which is ok with me. |
