Posted - 03/27/2012 : 13:53:58 I am planning on getting conversion barrels for my Glock 23, but want to be fully educated on the subject and have all the parts necessary before I do it.
I have seen mixed info all around on various sites. Some indicate just drop in the new barrel, other indicate a need for a new spring/extractor. If I intend just to use the extra barrels for the range what additonal parts do you recommend in addition to the .357 sig and 9mm conversion barrel. Also what brand do you recommend?
Thanks. If is the wrong forum for this post, let me know. |

Posted - 04/21/2012 : 09:06:11 Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but for those that responded, do you have a Gen 3 or Gen 4? I only ask because the recoil spring in the 2 models are different and I may need to drop a G19 Gen 4 recoil spring in with the 9mm barrel to have flawless operation of "cooler" loads. |

Posted - 03/29/2012 : 05:17:41 Neat idea overall.
I just picked up a G22, a LE tradein. Just a bit holster wear.
A .357Sig conversion barrel would be very interesting....will have to see if someone makes a longer barrel for the G22.
Edit: Lone Wolf distributes OEM barrels. Not cheap, but might be a neat way to check into .357Sigs. OTOH, not much cheap about .357Sig. |

Posted - 03/27/2012 : 18:22:10 I also read somewhere that when going from the .40 to 9mm, its recommended to use the heavier 9mm grains, or +p. I think the reason was something along the lines that a extra pressure is needed to depress the recoil spring to get reliable extraction (not sure)?? With that said, I only shoot the WWB from walmart and thats 115gr, and mine has also proven 100% reliable... Ohh yea, thanks G&T, i forgot about the mags... |

Posted - 03/27/2012 : 16:07:50 I dropped in a storm lake 357sig barrel in my 23 and have now put 500+ rounds thru it without one hiccup. |

Posted - 03/27/2012 : 14:35:25 I have a Glock 23 (40 cal) and purchased a Lone Wolf conversion barrel for 9mm that drops in. There were no additional parts needed with the exception of 9mm magazines. However, if you were converting from .40 to 357, the extra mags would not be necessarry....only a barrel switch.
The reason? The case diameter of the .40 an 357 sig are identical....it is the projectile that is different (357 sig is a necked down .40)
Some will say that for ultimate reliability you need to also change out the extractor. I cannot comment on whether or not it is necessarry, only to say that my conversions have been 100% reliable without them. |

Posted - 03/27/2012 : 14:10:37 I also have the 23 and bought a KKM 9mm conversion barrel. I use it at the range and for idpa and so forth. All i did was drop it in. I did not change any of the other parts, and it has worked flawlessly. This is just my experiance. I think there are quite a few other good brands out as well... |
