| If you get a AR10 (Armalite is the only brand I would suggest) or M1A1 (Springfield only) you will never look back. The FAL, SETME, FN FNAR all pale in comparison. |

I saw this yesterday and it really got me thinking: http://tinyurl.com/lpmso3 even though I am not a big fan of 308, it might be worth it.
Then I saw this: http://tinyurl.com/lwh2vk I don't see mags.
I really need to start reloading... |

Those friggin FN FALs with stock stocks will kick the crap out of you! And the damn things weigh a ton !!
My neighbor builds them. He had one that would every so often go full auto !!! Tons of fun! What a beast to keep on target when that happens! |

| I've got a DPMS in .308. Great weapon. Trigger could use a little work, but I have NO problems with it. |

There are some .308 Galils out there but they are rare and pricey. Same for SIG AMT's - they exist but are rare. Somebody (Keltec?) came out with a .308 bullpup a few years back but I have not seen one in real life.
I have at least one of each you mentioned (except for the HK - a CETME is close enough) and I like FAL's the most - particularly the Para model. But it isn't a hands down difference by any means. |

I like my DCM Garand, and for the under $400 price I paid for it, I can't complain.
I have a FAL in full auto, its pretty useless unless on a bipod and sand bagged. As a long range weapon from behind a barricade its OK, if I was going to carry it, nope. Definitely the AR-10 is the way to go. |

I vote for the M1A1 for the best all around .308, I just like wood so much more than plastic. I have an "All Weather" Mini-14 with the black plastic stock, it hasn't the inspriational beauty like a wood gun, I bought it in plastic so that it wouldn't get beat to death riding in a pickup and it could survive better if I ever lost it underground. |

| My Armalite AR-10T os a fine gun That I really enjoy shooting. It's accuracy is great and I've taken out 4 inch targets at 350 yards using 168 gr A-Max bullets. The only other .308 I'd think about is the Springfield M1A. The AR-10 does have an advantage of being able to mount scopes easier on the flat top and the availablity of different stocks forearms and other goodies. I installed the Magpul PRS stock on mine and I love it. There are also several other calibers in the 300 range that you can mount on the top of the receiver. I do wish I could find a 50 caliber upper that would mount on the AR-10 rather then a AR-15. |

| I'm with you on the uppers, Ron. I haven't found any that mount on the 10. I have the A4 config AR-10 (flat top, collapsible stock) and it'll beat your shoulder around a bit but an aftermarket stock will fix that. It's light and highly modifiable. The M1A is also a great gun that can be upgraded as far as your imagination and wallet allow. I don't think one is better than the other, they will both serve you great. I'm not sure why you don't like Saigas though. I have the .308 version and although I wish I had gotten the shorter barrel version, it's a workhorse and upgrade/replacement parts are cheap. |

| I've got the Magpul PRS on my Armalite AR-10 and so does Randy. If you have an M4 stock you will need to get a new inner tube to replace the M4 tube when restocking it. I really like the PRS stock. I also have a Magpul MOE stock on my M&P15 and like it better then the M4. |
