Whoa - hey David .. see you have an M9! Shot one of those last summer at a friends place in TX and flat fell in love with it, but can't find one anywhere. What do you think of that piece? I heard they were fairly inexpensive for a compact 9.

Hey Bruce,
Last time I checked, you can still get them. I paid $422 out the door for mine. Check with a private dealer, they usually get them through CDNN Investments.
Also, just checked at steyrclub.com, and the news there is that Steyr is coming out with a new batch of MA1s with a new coating in September. But they tend to drag their feet, so if you can find one floating around, I say go get it. |

I vouch for the Safepacker but would recommend you consider getting and using the optional shoulder strap. I used mine in a major city noted for its NO CCW and had face to face conversations with law enforcement officers without them noticing my Glock G19.
Without going into more details, I can ASSURE you I was perfectly LEGAL in doing so! |

Got my Safepacker in this week, the Commander model. Fits my .40 P99 or my 9mm P228 or even my .45 P220 Carry. Haven't worn it yet. Only complaint I have is I wish they'd left the dang patch off it... |

| Got the patch off! Cut all the stitches and it didn't leave a trace other than a little depression that I hope will go away as the foam relaxes back... |

| I ordered one of these first of the week; should be here Friday, just in time for my trip to my parents' house a couple of hours away. Taking my dad to a gun show about 10 miles from his house; slip that thing onto my seat belt and good to go. It'll be good for the daily commute as well. |

I got mine yesterday. After I sold the Beretta I bought a SW642. Ordered the SP from Midway USA and had it in 2 days with standard shipping. What a great company!
I love it. Haven't got my licence yet but have been carrying it in the car with me. It's very comfy on the side and I couldn't care less if people notice it. I'ts going to be my primary carry holster until I find something better. I doubt I can find something as comfy.

| I've been using mine for a while now. On my Harley or in the car. Every where I go. My buds joke and call it a "man purse" but when they get uncomfortable, they quit carrying, I still have mine. I'm guessing when winter rolls around that I'll still have it on my hip. My Xd-40 fits as does my RIA M1911(MS). |

Can the gun be drawn from the safepacker crossdraw?
Can't you just get the biggest version and use it even for smaller guns?
how fast is the draw compared to IWB or OWB?
Thanks |

| hello, welcome to the CCF family. i suppose you probably could draw it cross draw with a lot of effort but i wouldnt recommend it due to position angle. you can use it for smaller guns, but i believe in owning the right size for the weapon carried as i want it to be as small as possible. as for speed, its not quite as fast as IWB/OWB but certainly faster than tuckable IWB. |

FYI for any lefties out there: Dillon only sells right-handed models, so I had to get mine straight from The Wilderness.
I've had mine for over two years, now and am still very satisfied with it. I bought the 5" Gov't. model and carry everything in it from my Ruger P944 to a 3" SP101. When I have some cash, I'll likely get the smaller model for the SP101, but for now, the bigger model works quite well with it.
All the best, Scott |

The Wilderness Safepacker looks veerrry appealing except for one thing that makes me hesitate. Having to get the buckle undone. I've seen that sort of buckle before and found them something I fumble with. If it could pull loose fast with a hook and loop closure I'd be orderingone right now for my XD-45c. Presently it rides in a SmartCarry which makes it disappear even in shorts. I think it comes out as fast as the Safepacker and no buckle. Still, it doesn't go on and off quickly. You can't just grab it and go. The idea of "hide in plain sight" and something close to open carry is very appealing. Any users have trouble hitting the buckle just right? |

This might be a good fit for me as I have been struggling with how to carry IWB with my size.
They say Ruffles has ridges, well so do I. |

My safepacker is my automobile holster, fastened to my seat belt right over the buckle. I usually practice my draw when I'm sitting at a light or if I drive my wife somewhere (like the mall) and I sit in the car (can't get her to carry). I can get the buckle undone and the weapon out in less than 2 seconds.
I also like the way I can take it just about anywhere and I have yet for anyone to ask me what it is.
Best $70 I ever spent. |
