I had recently sent my trusty M&P Compact .40 back to S&W for the M&P Pistol Action Package tuning in preparation for alot of training this year with Tiger McKee at his Shootrite academy.

When I received it back, the difference from before was like night and day. This particular package entails:

"Polish Ramp
Tuned Action
Install Performance Center Sear
Test Fire for Function"

I highly recommend. As well, factory certified tuning and gunsmithing provides peace of mind (at least for me) both in terms of safety and possibly defending yourself in a courtroom compared to any home gunsmithing.

As far as training with Tiger McKee, my first level I Defensive/Concealed Carry Handgun 2-day course is next weekend and I'll post about that with pictures and compare it to the basic NRA pistol and personal protection courses I've already taken.

The more advanced level II Tactics with Low Light and level III Combatives I'll be taking later this year.

Meanwhile I've been going through his published book/training diary which has a wealth of information and I recommend this as well:

good stuff, Jason. I'm trying to fit a defensive handgun course into my schedule as well this summer but work probably won't allow the time off.

What night and day differences have you seen since your gun came back from S&W? My M&P's run pretty well stock.

After receiving it back from S&W I felt the trigger being much smoother with no perceptible grittiness or creep and a lighter, crisper break. They took an otherwise decent stock trigger and made it wonderful.

Looking forward to the training; try to find some way to come up with the money and time, it may be priceless one day if you really need it.

Having taken the basic NRA pistol and personal protection courses, I'd recommend them to anyone as a good foundation. In my opinion, those basic NRA courses though are too much classroom, not enough shooting, and that's why I'm looking forward to the more advanced 3 levels of courses I'll be doing at Tiger's place.

10-4 that. I'm experienced enough to know what I don't know.
I'm looking at these guys as their classes are close to Orlando.

It was $120 and worth it in my opinion. When I shipped it I also requested in the note to have them do a full disassembly and inspection and adjust the ambidextrous slide lock lever which they did during the course of the work and didn't charge any extra.

Here's the direct link to the performance center gunsmithing info:

Tiger's book is really good. I bought 4 signed copies 2 years ago and gave them to my shooting buddies as Christmas gifts. Even if you're not a 1911 fan, there's still a *ton* on info in there about moving, multiple opponents, and working the gun.
