I was fired today from my job with Cintas Uniform Company in Milwaukee Wisconsin. No prior verbal or written warning. The general manager claims that since I target shoot, and wish to defend myself and others from harm. I, according to him do not belong at Cintas. I warn anybody applying to work at Cintas who owns firearms to keep it to themselves. Cintas is an anti-gun company, until now I did not know how much.

There has to be a reason other than you like guns. If you didn't violate company policy or some other legal thing as said above time for a lawyer

The Constitution of most of our states (and of the United States) assert that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed."
- Thomas Jefferson

"The Constitution is NOT an instrument for the government to restrain the people; it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government." - Patrick Henry

bosses with subordinates that own guns get very weird. I would guess that your boss is a liberal Democrat that thinks that everyone that owns a gun is going to go postal on them. If you didn't threaten anyone harm at your place of employment, this is definitey lawyer time.....if you can prove that it was your stance on guns that got you fired.
If you were carrying while on the job, and it was in violation of company policy, they don't have to give you any verbal or written warning. You really do need to find out the reason for termination as a firearm related termination will follow you a very long time and will make it almost impossible to find a job.

In most states you can be fired for any reason that isnt specifically prohibited by law... By all means check with a lawyer to check your local law, but dont start counting benjis yet.

Is this legit, or are you trolling for material to write a report for school?

This is the real deal, the general manager said I do not fit into the Culture of Cintas. This came with no warning from a photograph he found of my Dan Wesson target pistol. The photograph is the gun unloaded laying on a table. To add insult to injury he gave the picture to the Milwaukee police. They called me with some silly questions. My question back to the officer was, did my ex-boss accuse me of any hostile or threatening behavior? She said well no. I replied with why is it cause to involve the police when showing a coworker a picture of a pistol. She said I don't know. I come to work do my job, never a problem and have a perfect attendence record. As for the lawyer he was called as soon as I got in the car. Gun owners are newest sub class of humans. As so many before us, keep your beliefs in the closet. Please do not use Cintas, they are anti-gun. Many other fine uniform companies are out there.

I know this is too little, too late, but I learned from experience not to discuss my hobbies and interests at work, especially if they are considered controversial.

Do not know what the law is in Wis but in Tx they can let you go any time whit out reason, and there's nothing you can do. Only if they give you a reason letting you go might you have a case, but then it is almost impossible to find a lawyer willing to take the case.About the best thing you can do is go find another job and be more careful.

Thanks for reading. The weenie that canned me was at the Paul Ryan V.P. ralley a few weeks ago. Says he is a republican, guess he just hates guns so much that even a picture of one makes his little brain tilt. The NRA has hooked me up with a pro-gun lawyer. Also the NRA legal defense fund may help with his charges. You own guns you must be in the NRA!

Ok. Fair enough. Had to at least question if this was real.

Sorry to hear that. It just doesn't make sense. Last statistic I read, shows there are as many guns in America, as there are citizens, so it isn't as though you belong to some sort of small group by being a gun owner.

Move out West and get another career. Easier said than done, but you'll probably be happier in he end.

Sorry to hear of your predicament. Some people are close minded about firearms. Your love of shooting is a rediculous reason to be fired.

Thank you and God bless for caring. I am a 58 year old disabled veteran. Anyone reading this who does business with Cintas should ask them why they dislike gun owners. Also not showing much consideration for veterans either.
