due to a recent thread that was brought to my attention it is necessary to explain our official stance. this forum exists to promote responsible carry. period. this forum will never encourage or condone illegal carry. period. if it is illegal for you to carry there, dont go there. many will carry in spite of law, but this board will never condone it.

Before anyone responds to a sketchy question like that, remember that it may be posted by someone trying to twist your words to make it look like you are suggesting someone break the law, or trying to make you admit to doing it yourself.

I agree with everyone else on this topic. I read this thread and was cringing as I read it.

I whole heartily agree Nate. I do not condone these actions, nor would I expect the forum to either. The comment that those posts asking such questions is probably an attempt to twist our words is most likely right on.

As an active LEO, I completely concur with Nathan's position on legal carry. I can tell you that illegal carry, concealed or otherwise, is foolish and dangerous and simply should not be done, recommended, or condoned.

We all need to remember that these are emotionally trying times for us and our way of life, but once we commit something to print on this forum the body language and voice inflection is missing, sarcasm can seem exceptionally cruel and demeaning and I am not innocent of this act on here. I apologise to anyone I have offended that actually was not my intention but going back and reading some of the posts I did us all a diservice with some of my comments (esp. those concerning .380 and smaller caliber guns). As we come to this season of Thanksgiving, this forum and it's members will be in my thoughts and prayers. It is amazing that we have a place like this to exchange ideas and experiences. Have a great Thanksgiving, be careful if you are traveling, and be safe out there.

Landon,

It is too bad...of course, it's also job security. Bottom line is we don't really expect crooks to follow the law, in fact, we know they won't. If we don't want to be counted among their numbers, we must follow the law and carry legally.

I believe that certain people wish us to not follow the law so they have a reason to do away with concealed / open carry and guns in general . this makes me all the more determined to follow the law .

the police of a state should never be stronger or better armed than the citizenry ,an armed citizenry willing to fight , is the foundation of civil freedom -Robert A. Heinlein from beyond this Horizon

Speaking from a place (literally and figuratively) where one cannot even get a CCW, the significance and responsibility associated with that privilege* becomes that much more meaningful. To me, anything that tarnishes the image of lawful carry, ownership, or self-defense is as reprehensible as real criminal acts.

* I believe self-defense is a right, but in our times and almost all our states, a CCW is a granted privilege.

Don't think for a minute, that a prosecuting attorney won't subpoena every post you made on this "gun nut" web site if you ever use your gun in self defense.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
