Levy1,
Light: I never carried one before this summer. I bought a Streamlight ProTac 2L for $40.00 from amazon. It has three settings: bright, strobe, and low beam. Low beam is great for work, high beam and strobe would really tilt things in your favor if surprised at night. Besides, it's nice being able to see in the dark!
Knife: a blade is THE survival tool. My dad impressed the manly habit of always having one. I carry nothing fancy, just a Gerber lockback from Walmart one can open and close with one hand.
Pepper spray: "if all you carry is a hammer everything starts looking like a nail." Pepper spray allows one to "vary their response options"....say you are attacked by a dog. If you pull a gun, it won't understand. Blast it with pepper and it will and will still go home that day. Be accosted by the unarmed, pepper is READILY understood and again, you don't have to kill something. I have never sprayed anyone, I can attest firsthand that a can of spray WILL cause guys to back off quickly.
My belt is getting pretty full of gear! Many here will laugh but that is them.....I carry two jacks in my car trunk also. |

yeah --beware of gun dealers that look like this babe. Last gun show, I ended up buying a bunch of Tupperware and joining Marky Kay Cosmetics from this chick before I came to my senses.
