for your own information to do with as you will, be aware that i have found no 155 grain .40 that will pass the FBI penetration test. its just too light for the cross section. some of the hotter 165 grain loads will pass the FBI penetration test, and all of the premium 180 grain loads do.

When I had a Glock 23, it wouldn't shoot 180 grain bullets into a sombrero-sized group at 50 feet. The 155 and 135 grain bullets took the group sizes down to around 3 inches at 25 meters. YMMV. I went with accuracy.

The FBI penetration test is great for law enforcement where they have to shoot through glass, etc., and still have the bullets perform. As a civilian carrying for self-defense, I need to hit the threat, probably quite close and personal. I'm not sure the Remington 125 grain .357 Magnum SJHPs I carry in my S&W Model 13 will pass the FBI penetration tests, nor do I care. They are accurate from my revolver, and that's what counts.

plain and simple answer: if your glock is grouping 3' at 50', something is bad wrong with either your glock or the shooter and you have much bigger issues to consider than the round you are carrying.

Perhaps it is just me, but I would never consider pulling the trigger and trying to shoot someone 50 feet away. That's just too far for my taste. If someone is 50 feet away, they are not a credible threat. If I am being held at gunpoint from 50 feet away, I've done something wrong.

Why would someone EVERRRRR, EVER, EVERRR, consider pulling the trigger at 50 feet? That is way too far away to be considered a threat.

Not if they're pointing something back at you.

I edited my comment. I get that 50 feet is 16yards. But still. Too far away to shoot someone.

[I'm making this up] but what do they say? 90% of defensive shootings last 3 seconds, and are within 7 feet. Something like that?
