Re: Bye bye Bump-Fire

Ya, the stupid media makes a big deal of the cyclic rate while ignoring the attendant inaccuracy.

Re: Help me wiff my maff.

Can't calculate deceleration without knowledge of the coefficient of friction of the projectile (size and shape). Considering the range, there's not much drop in trajectory in 1.2 seconds, the same drop as you would get dropping a baseball for 1.2 seconds, because earth's gravity is constant near th...

Re: 9mm NATO ammo

At 24 cents per round including shipping, that's a good price for NATO 9mm. However, I have never paid more than 20 cents for bulk 115 gr FMJ and I like it just fine for range ammo. An extra 4 cents per round really adds up with many thousands over the years.

9mm range ammo cheap at WalMart

100 rounds per box for $20.44 including sales tax. Shelf price 18.97 per box. Federal brass case 115 grain FMJ. This is as cheap as I've seen FMJ even when I buy 1000 from internet, free shipping. My WalMart had many boxes on the shelf.

If my EOtech 512 from 2013 has no defects, I'll keep it. In general, quality of products seems to decline as they find cheaper ways to make things.

Nice setup, Matey. I've been shopping, but can't decide if the social disorder will get better or worse. How would you use an optic on that rifle?

Does EOtech customer service verify the recall? Have you experienced any of the issues stated as defects in the CAL? I have not, but may not be able to detect them.

The first Sig I ever saw, about 1974, was made like a fine clock. Are they still made this way, so that they command twice the price of an M&P, or do you pay for the name?

Re: Parts washer?

When do you sleep? I cannot think you have any time to detail strip, as often as you shoot and size of your collection. Anyway, that's what children are for. I remove the slide, use Hoppes on the bore, spray the shit out of everything with WD40, blast it with compressed air, drop some oil or grease,...

WD40 cans come with that red straw. :)
I use Rem oil in a syringe with a long blunt needle to reach remote areas. Just a drop or two.

What am I looking for? I see a line arc at the slide release on 901. Is this a scratch? Not good in a museum piece.

Re: Boresights

Don't know about boresights, never trusted them. You must be tinkering with your daughter's new .243, and the picture looks like you can remove the bolt and look through the barrel. Why don't you eye-sight it? Because using a boresight will get him very close, so that when he sights it in the old f...

Re: Price too good to be true?

It's a good instrument, but I use an ACOG 5.5x50 on my 20" .308-AR. This .308 has the range to need a more powerful optic. I use an EOtech 512 on my 16" .308-AR for shorter range and to keep this lighter rifle as light as possible. Neither are for "hunting". If the seller can sho...

Do you really want to add 2 lbs of optics onto an extra heavy rifle? If you are OK with open sights at 200 yds why can't you be confident of quick acquisition at 30 yds?

Highjack alert

I once bid on a GB no reserve gun, and just when I was about to win at a super bargain price the auction was withdrawn. Gone. The seller was a conveniently local store, not a chain store, where the item was on the shelf at retail. I never entered that store again. They have since vanished.

9mm rifle Just bought another .308-AR (in anticipation of drastic price increases), and have lots of ammo. Got home guns and carry guns. Thinking about a 9mm rifle, small and light, for SHTF, but don't like the current prices/reliability/accuracy/form factor/etc. Can anyone suggest a particular mode...

Re: S&W 1076 score

Very visually appealing, it appears to be a single stack CC candidate. I looked up the specs, and I suppose 40 ounces plus cartridges, and probably 1.3" thick, is OK for Montana, but not for me in urban and suburban places. But I do like my S&W 3914 9mm for carry, I guess the baby brother o...

^^^Yup. How about them racking the shotgun for emphasis even though they had just shot it? And no shell is ejected. Silly, and comical, and shows how little writers/directors know about guns. Yes, Nathan, it's just Hollywood. The .45LC will surely penetrate that table top, unless the story line prev...

Re: Footage of mall mass-stabber being shot by off duty cop

When necessary for me to be there, I carry in gun free zones. Concealed is concealed, and there is no penalty in Colorado except to leave if asked. Except of course Federal and some State and county buildings. Did you know the many National Forrest offices around the country prohibit guns?

Re: Weapon access in vehicle

On long drives I tuck a Remora with my carry weapon between console and driver's seat. Very secure, it sticks up enough to grip but is not easily seen from the windows. Before exiting I can easily slip them under my shirt. Extra magazines go in the door pocket.
