Re: Terrorists, guns, and the constitution

Nate, they would have to officially declare war on those groups, but I see your point.

Good points altogether, was just thinking about declaration of war, such as Rand Paul suggested, might allow for treason and espionage laws to block communication legally.

Terrorists, guns, and the constitution

Constitutionality question here. Instead of not allowing people on a watch list to buy guns, is there a better and constitutional way? Could we declare war on groups like ISIS, Taliban, Al Queda, etc, and then legally ban communication with them? Does the constitution allow for that? If so, it would...

Re: Handgun vs AR15

Not sure this would change the answer, but my statement was in terms of a concealed carrier vs a mass shooter. So it's more on the terms of stopping a close range threat. Again, I realize whoever gets the first well placed shot is probably gonna win, and has the element of surprise, just wondering i...

Handgun vs AR15

While debating the Orlando shooting today, I made a claim that I'm looking for peronal confirmation for. My claim was that at close range with a person not wearing body armor, any service caliber handgun is going to be just about as effective as an AR15. My thought process was that at indoor range, ...

Re: IPDA SSP and Glock Chrome Kits

Some sort of clear coat wouldn't go amiss to prevent corrosion. From what I have found through research, this isn't really a concern. It's stainless steel and the tennifer treatment is beyond just the painted finish. By the way, I later realized that I forgot to do the extractor. http://s32.postimg...

Re: IPDA SSP and Glock Chrome Kits

The problem I'm having is finding an OEM mag or slide release that has been chromed. All the slide releases I'm finding are Lone Wolf or some other aftermarket one, which I believe is illegal. Right now I'm thinking that I'll polish the slide release and lock, and either let the mag release be, or s...

IPDA SSP and Glock Chrome Kits

So I'm wanting to dress up my G34 with a chrome kit. (pins, slide release, and slide lock, maybe mag release as well) I'm also wanting to try my hand at IPDA SSP competitions. I looked in the rules and it seems only factory releases and locks can be used, but custom finishes are allowed. Does anyone...

My intention was to go with a Sig or something of that "caliber", but sometimes a deal just walks up and finds you. Next year perhaps.

Accidental Full Auto on a Glock

So I did a "25 cent trigger job" (polishing the trigger components) on my Glock 34 today and accidentally made it go full auto. After reassembly, I dry fired it a few times, and the trigger seemed stiff right before the break. I figured it was in my head, loaded a mag, and test fired it. A...

I don't know if I blink when shooting it (probably), but I never knew it threw a fireball even close to anything like that.

S&W 460 fire ball, wow!

Went to the range with a buddy today and shot my 460. My friend took a slow motion video of me firing it and captured this still.

Re: Aftermarket Glock Slide Coatings

On another note, I found a local shop that does cerakote. $50 for the slide, $20 for the barrel. I'm thinking of having them do both as well as the pins, slide release and lock, mag release, and extractor in a silver color. https://s3.amazonaws.com/mgm-content/sites/armslist/uploads/posts/2013/11/14...

Re: Aftermarket Glock Slide Coatings

I'm actually leaning towards a matte finish with cerakote, I just don't want to waste my money if a kydex holster is going to scratch it to hell.
With a chrome finish, I'm wondering if glare off the flat top of the slide is ever a problem.

Aftermarket Glock Slide Coatings

I bought a G34 today. I really like the two tone look and am wanting a silver slide and barrel. This is not going to be a "field gun", it is a target and possibly competition gun. That being said, I want a coating that isn't going to get scratched up easily just by holstering it, so polish...

Re: "Nice" pistol reccomendations

Sooo... I was talking to a guy at work about this yesterday. Today he comes up to me and asks, "Are you still thinking about a Glock 34? I have one for sale in my truck." Long story short, had around 300 rounds through it, he had Dawson Precision sights on it, and he had the Glock case and...

Re: "Nice" pistol reccomendations

Still considering building up a Glock though too. What does that mean, exactly? I only ask because the only modification I would ever consider doing on a Glock is upgrading the sights. Without exception, every Glock failure I've ever witnessed after countless personal range sessions and classes (as...

Looking around for P220 Super Match to look at and hold, as well as a P226 and the HKs. Still considering building up a Glock though too.

Re: "Nice" pistol reccomendations

Just found this on Sig's website, the P220 Super Match. Still haven't decided yet, but... I think I just fell in love at first sight. That thing is just gorgeous! Aside from size, different caliber, and the sights, how do these compare to a P226 Legion? http://www.sigsauer.com/upFiles/catalog/produc...

Nate, or anyone for that matter, what's the difference between the P30 and the VP9?

EDIT: I see the VP9 is striker fired. So the better question is: How does the VP9 compare to the P30?

Re: "Nice" pistol reccomendations

Do you know the difference of a P&R? I didn't until last night when I looked it up. My Model 10 is only pinned, whereas my Model 27 is pinned and recessed. I have failed to find why P&R is a big deal though. I found that the pinned barrel is to keep it in place, but is that really an issue?...

Re: "Nice" pistol reccomendations

If you want a real "work of art" for around $1,000, the only thing that would fit that would be an S&W P&R revolver. No finer handgun has ever been made yet they're still grossly under-valued. Not a 29, but I do have a Model 27-2 as well as a Model 10-2, not to mention the 460 XVR...
