Re: Mousegun defense

I think the younger lady is holding a .25 automatic. The older lady is holding a snubbie, but shes a little old lady firing it with virtually no recoil so I can only guess what it is. If it is a .38, it's some reduced recoil light loads. This is also a great opportunity to learn the importance of co...

Mousegun defense

Although it was a happy ending, the assailant was eventually able to wrestle one of the guns away and start shooting at the store owners with it despite absorbing multiple hits himself. https://abc6onyourside.com/news/nation-world/graphic-video-liquor-store-clerks-shoot-armed-robbery-suspect-fight-o...

Re: Stopping power matters

Are you seriously making the argument that you would choose .380 over 10mm against a man wielding an AK47 in your office because you are afraid of over-penetration? Is that seriously your response? And leave your office out of it since you have "multiple escape routes". You're in another s...

Re: Software platform

I really like this platform but its just too much work to try to modify it to suit. Even changing the background color requires fifteen minutes of editing. This board is a .php platform that is made to work under a Windows Server server and it works very well with little problems, but I would prefer...

I'm no longer going to be spending hundreds of dollars a month to lease this server and I'm bringing the forum back home to host it on my own server like I did for all those years prior to 2014. I'm also switching platforms to get back to a more friendly admin panel so that we can grow our membershi...

Re: Stopping power matters

I answered your question with "depends". It depends on what I've got on me that day and what options I have to remove myself and or my family from the situation. What you had on you that day wasn't my question. You have to engage a shooter wielding an AK47. You have a G20 10mm and a G42 ....

.375 Winchester

I want a big bore that I can stand to shoot. I love what the .45-70 does to whatever hits, except for what it does to my shoulder. So, is the .375 Winchester a nice compromise? Would it make a smart choice for grizzly bear defense? I've never played with it and only know what the stats show on paper...

Ammo stock

I'm noticing true premium grade defensive ammunition (Federal HST, Winchester SXT) is becoming harder and harder to find online. It took me three days to locate any fifty round boxes of 147 grain HST +P 9mm and then they only had nine boxes. I can't find any Winchester Ranger SXT 147 grain or the 12...

I can appreciate that...but at the same time, I wouldn't get political with anyone who has the potential of sticking you with needles. Three people you never argue with: ⋅ Your waitress - she'll spit in your food. ⋅ Your mailman - you'll never get your important mail ever again. ...

Re: Underwood Extreme Penetrator

Ive now seen a few tests in gelatin, pork ribs, denim, etc. For Underwood solids, but light weight SD ammo where I'm thinking it might not be a gimmick after all. I'm curious who performed these tests? Note that you have gelatin and then you have FBI Standard gelatin. Gelatin is easily manipulated ...

Re: Stopping power matters

There is a gunman shooting up a school with an AK47. You have a Glock 20 10mm and a Ruger LCP .380 to choose from; which do you grab, and why? I'd take an AR pistol over both options, but I guess the answer "depends" on what you have on you that day Well sure but c'mon, that's not a serio...

Re: Stopping power matters

but "stopping power" as commonly defined as a one shot to end a lethal threat/conflict does not reliably exist Agreed; yet me must acknowledge that there is in fact a difference. The same principles that make the .45-70 a better choice than 5.56 for grizzly bear apply in making a .45 ACP ...

Indeed; I continue to carry in a Safepacker to work every day. In your case however, since you've already been "made", they're going to know what it is. Since it's choir practice and not very physical, can you get away with appendix carry?

Re: Against a knife

Pepper spray guy is another issue entirely and I failed to address it. Never put yourself between a gunman and his potential threat. To clarify my position, I'm not criticizing the gunman for his decisions as they were his to make. I'm only pointing out that from a tactical standpoint, he endangered...

Re: Against a knife

I'm conflicted in how to respond. On the one hand I hate to be "that guy" who points out everything he did wrong. On the other hand, I'm not familiar with the laws in Seattle but I don't want anyone to repeat the mistakes. While it messes up the leftist narrative about gun-wielding cowboys...

Re: Stopping power matters

stopping power is a fallacy. shot placement is paramount. disrupting vital body systems (skeletal, muscular, pulmonary, cardiovascular, nervous, or psychological) is key. I both agree, and disagree. I do not believe in the concept of "stopping power" as a guarantee of outcome. I do howeve...

You can get it either way. I'm not a big fan of the three dot night sights though and find two dot acquisition to be faster.
