Re: Dallas PD finds Sig 320 unfit for duty

i find it rather comical that everyone is losing their proverbial shit over this and are fine with rifles with free floating firing pins that exhibit the same defect. Why I never keep a round chambered in a rifle. The "tactical expert extreme operators" can bitch all they want, and I don'...

Re: GOOD DA trigger!

Do you think it's too big to pocket carry? I think that in a Wrangler cowboy cut jeans pocket (like you, that's what I wear most days), with a pocket holster, it would qualify for a "yes" for me . Can't say whether it would work for you or not, but I suspect that it would be slightly too ...

I've been eyeing those, too. Assuming the quality of the components is good enough to hold up to serious use, it appears Kimber has made the ideal compact revolver.

Re: Weapons Mounted Lights

No weapon mounted lights for me, but I do carry separate lights. I wouldn't say they're for defensive use (though they could adapt to that role), but rather for general use - I carry a Streamlight ProTac 2AA as a primary light and a Streamlight Microstream as a backup. Admittedly I'm a Maglite guy, ...

I believe the military issue M4 has a 14.5" barrel, and it's just the civilian market versions that have the 16" barrel to avoid being considered an SBR.

Re: Thread Split - Usefulness of Night Sights

When my eyes are fully dilated, turning on my flashlight is as blinding to me as it would be the threat I was pointing it at. Consider an incandescent D-cell Maglite - they have an easy to use power button, can be set for flood or focus, they don't kick out enough light to blind the person using th...

Re: What Flashlights Are You Using

Streamlight Protac2 AAA rides with me every day for a couple years now. Best flashlight I've ever purchased. I've recently switched over to a Streamlight ProTac 2AA and a MicroStream AAA. I still prefer incandescent lights to LEDs but the Streamlights are so handy I'm willing to use them instead. R...

Re: CCW shooting officer's attacker video

it's at least a little disturbing to me that dude barely reacted at all to the first two shots. A well delivered punch or slap carries many times more force than a bullet. It happens all the time that people get hit with fists, boots, sticks, cinder blocks, etc. and don't react. Why should it be di...

Listening to his argument, he seems to lack any reasoning behind his beliefs on most all guns. Can't get parts? Somebody should tell him about the internet thingy. :) I find it likely that these videos were made some time ago - another video (which looks to have been made around the same time) has ...

Re: USPc 45 - SS?

I was slightly mistaken on what Mr. Jacobson said regarding the USPc - he states in this video that the compact models have a "potential trigger return problem". This reminded me of having read about the trigger spring issues several years ago. You can skip to the 5 minute mark in the vide...

Re: USPc 45 - SS?

I've never heard of this before so I did some searching. There is one website for HK enthusiasts, hkpro.com (I mean there are more websites, but only one where the industry experts participate). If there was a known issue with this, I'm absolutely certain that it would be discussed over there. I di...

I've read many times that the compact USPs have a tendency of breaking trigger springs unless modified. Any thoughts on whether this is an issue?

Re: Security guard thwarts a bank robbery

A few years back, CNN did a story about private armed guards. At first I was glad they did. I was hoping they would report on how they have to work long hours in adverse conditions doing a thankless job of protecting people who often view them with scorn and ridicule. But nope, it was a pure hatche...

Re: Security guard thwarts a bank robbery

One thing I like about this video is it shows that private security can be a lot better then anyone gives them credit for. Private security has always gotten a bad rap, especially in Hollywood. In almost every movie, security guards are depicted as hopeless incompetent or corrupt, if not both. Like...

Re: M&P or Sig 226 SCT

Most brands used to make guns more finely. I recently acquired a mid-80s upper assembly from a Taurus 92 to convert a .40 cal Taurus to 9mm, and it's better machined than the modern production Sigs, Colts and S&Ws I see. That says a lot about the way guns are made these days. The only production...

Maybe I'm just weird (shocker), but as much as I like shiny stainless and chrome guns, there's not much I find more attractive than a beat up old pistol with heavy holster wear that still runs great.

The geometry of the shorter barrel on same length slide stroke pitches the barrel at a much steeper angle leaving JMB himself to conclude that 4.25" was the shortest you could make it and remain reliable enough for combat (at least with the traditional bushing/barrel setup). Did Browning desig...

It is widely accepted as the most dangerous method of carry and is slower than #1 and #2. Not only is lowering the hammer statistically dangerous, but cocking the hammer while under an adrenaline dump is equally (if not more so due to the adrenaline) dangerous and can lead to an ND. ...
