Re: Common sense prevails in NJ flintlock owner case

IMO, "loser pays" should always apply in civil matters. And...it does also apply in criminal cases, in a sense, if the defendant chooses the public defender route. Related to this case, if not for all the publicity/outcry this guy managed to garner, I fully believe this case would have bee...

Re: Finding 9mm 147 gr HST ammo

I haven't seen any in 147gr locally either. I also like Winchester's PDX but have also only lately seen it in 124gr. It seems that 147gr is increasingly less common from many manufacturers. Not sure why that is though. Interestingly, Winchester is making the Train and Defend ammo and ALL of it seems...

Re: Kansas moving towards no permit

Nope. If "Latelle" is not a felon, he should have every right to carry the gun...shouldn't need a permit. If he's a felon, he doesn't care...he will carry it anyway, if he so desires. Permits are just another form of "show me your papers".

In order to keep with the rules about not discussing the .380 round for personal defense, I would like to remind any newbie readers that this discussion is in the context of the .380 as a backup gun only. Thank you. That is all.

Re: How Do You Rate FMJ Ammo?

Ok. Personally I have always shied away from reloads due to reading stories about the occasional squib and kabooms. I'm sure it's rare but just something to be aware of.

Re: Pharmacy Robbery foiled and caught on camera

My first thought was that the employee didn't shoot enough. Should have had three rounds in the perp before he ever ducked down. Best I can tell, he only got a single round off in the first volley. Though I could be mistaken.

Re: How Do You Rate FMJ Ammo?

Just curious, LWP... Does your reason for not buying Russian or Asian ammo for political reasons or some question about safety? Because if it has to do with safety, I don't think I would trust no name bulk reloads any more than the factory Russian stuff.

Re: New Jersey threatening to jail a man for a flintlock pistol in his car

I saw this on Cam & Co. the other day. Unbelievable to me. But this guy is fighting this to the end. There's also a fund set up to make donations for his defense. Another situation where everyone (cop, supervisor, DA, etc.) totally threw discretion out the window. A travesty that has become all ...

True, but, as I said, it was acquired at a time when nothing else could be had. During a time when cheap ammo was better than no ammo at all...for plinking anyway. I've almost got it all used up now.

Hard primer or firing pin/spring issue?

In putting my new Shield through its paces, I was out shooting a few different types of ammo. A lot of it was cheap stuff that I acquired back when ammo was scarce so I hope this problem is due to poor quality components. Anyway, I had a failure to fire on one round of Monarch (Russian-made and sold...

New carry gun and gear

I have been looking for an alternative to my full sized M&P9. I love the gun and its a real shooter, but there are times when something smaller (read: easier to conceal) is just better. The Shield has always intrigued me but the thumb safety was a no-go for me as a lefty. So when I first found o...

Interesting... I came to reloading about a year ago...during the height of the recent shortage. I managed to find Titegroup and N320 back then and have continued to use both for 9mm reloads. Now that I am able to find HP38/W231, Power Pistol, Bullseye, Universal, etc, I have thought about trying som...

Nice!

I don't know why, but I think, for looks, I would prefer the black grips on the stainless model and the wood grips on the black one. There's something, to me, about the contrasting stainless and black colors that is very attractive.

FOXX HYBRID IWB - first impressions

I got this for my Shield as a bit less expensive alternative to the KingTuk. I love my KingTuk and use it daily with my full sized M&P. But I had read some good reviews of the FOXX and decided to try it. The FOXX is nearly identical in construction. It is a bit more adjustable for cant and heigh...

I have never printed or had someone become aware that I carry You are an extremely rare exception. I carry concealed as a social courtesy only and I have accidentally exposed myself many times. It happens. I don't much care for open carry, but unless you never bend over, it happens even if only bri...
