Re: They Tried to Kick My Door Down

Or at least post a pic of those platinum grips -- I like gun bling as much as anybody. What pattern do they have? Checkered ? Engraved? I am sure that they aren't smooth; that would be a tactical error.

Re: First time handgunner's handgun

Academy Sports here in the Midwest has them with the "black pearl" grips for $99. That's nearly half what I paid a few years ago ($179, if I remember correctly), but I did get the .22 Mag cylinder as well, and a holster. Actually, it has been a fun and reliable gun to shoot.

Re: Heed my warning now...

Ironically, firearms, including AR's, are readily available and cheap, and ammo abounds (except .22 Magnum, it seems). I am running out of room to store bricks of .22, and am definitely taking advantage of the sales on .223, 9mm, etc. I may just have to get one more AR kit for a winter project, but ...

Re: Informed Opinions on Taurus Revolvers Please

FWIW -- I have a small number of Taurus revolvers that I am very satisfied with: - a Model 66 .357 with a 6 inch barrel -- I bought this at a pawn shop, and it has turned out to be a very accurate pistol with a nice finish that shoots well and has caused me no problems. - a Model M327 stainless revo...

I see how you are thinking, Nathan. The M1A would be hard to beat -- my initial thought was an AR-10 variation, basically equivalent characteristics -- firepower, range, accuracy, portability, reliability, ammo availability ...

I really don't understand why they didn't take him out with a rifle when they could see him through the picture window, walking around with a shotgun. And if he did fall asleep, why use a stun grenade to wake him up?

Re: if u can only have one long gun...

Well, I have this Henry ''Big Boy" in 44 mag. that would be hard to leave behind ... Is that a tactical decision or one based in personal attachment? Well, it was certainly tactical in the 1880's, but there is something to be said for a handy reliable, multi-caliber rifle, although 38/357 woul...

The Shield is an excellent choice -- I have one and I am very happy with it; it is compact, reliable and easy to shoot. It is also a very good value for the money. The gun is pretty light but very controllable with practice. I have also owned a .40 cal, but I found that the recoil was fairy unpleasa...

Please buy it before I do something crazy... :D Actually, I would have jumped on this if I did not already have a Colt STS Commander. A couple of years ago I ran across an unused model from a short run in 1990-1991. I imagine that the LW would be easier to carry and handle.

Gunsmith, you may be unaware of the huge history of this discussion on CCF 1.0 -- ultimately, discussion of "mouseguns" (.380 and below) was banned, and the general recommendation was, and is, to carry heavier bullets in any caliber. I definitely recommend reading Nathan's articles and gui...

Ridurall, awesome pic -- last time we were in Estes Park, there were Elk walking through town, and we got as close as in these pics to some at the YMCA Camp. The folks in Colorado told us that the Elk knew when hunting season was coming, and would hide, but the rest of the time they just wandered ar...
