Re: Question

The vertue of a pistol cal. Carbine has merrit. If you look at it in terms of extending your pistol out to 50yds. Its not a bad thing. As a home defence weapon its a low recoil, threat remover. Especially if equiped with a light/lazer combo. Ive a cheap highpoint 4595 beside my bed on the wifes side...

RE 200k miles and still running strong

Well, unfortunately I have discovered the hard way that GM sucks! Shortly after my 200k post my 5.3l started idling rough. It had always had a little burble at idle but this was a definite miss. This quickly got progressively worse, then finally set a P300 and P301 code. Multiple misfires, multiple ...

Re: Opinions on the Colt Defender

The angle the barrel drops is directly related to its length. Going shorter than 4" creates an angle too steep to feed relialable. The 1911 was never meant to be that short. It may pass the 200rd test or it may not. Personally im not going to trust my life to a maybe. The extra 1 1/4 in. of a c...

Re: One long gun under tyranny...

It surprises me that if truly limited to one gun that anyone would choose a 100 yard gun. Shotguns are awesome and have their place; what they do they do better than anything...but if you can truly only have one long gun why limit yourself to 100 yards? I'm certainly not criticizing anyone for thei...

Re: modular scope mounting

Hi Tye, yes those are bolt on mounts. For me this is a permanent setup. I played with a few different scopes borrowed from friends until I settled on the Nikon Monarch. I believe that the rail was from MGW. (Midwest gun works) It had to be custom made as of you look close you'll see that's a left ha...

Re: modular scope mounting

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z27/psjken/20141215_1004311.jpg Not sure if This is what you are referring to or not. I had to add a rail to this Savage 110 due to the mount length. 7mm rem mag is a long cartridge and stock scope mounts wouldnt fit. Ive swapped several scopes back and forth on t...

Re: Commander 1911 options

So none with extended beavertails... Not applicable; you can return the gun back to 1911 spec by simply swapping out the grip safety without having to machine the gun. I thought a bit of frame metal had to be hogged out to accommodate the extended beavertails of today??? A permanent modification --...

Re: Skinny Guy CC recomendations

I picked up my Colt Combat commander for $700. I put almost that much in custom parts to make it what I wanted. Ive seen several Springfield Champion Operator's for sale on gunbroker.com. Most are around the $800 range. Ive never owned one but fires several, Its a very nice gun to shoot. All the rev...
