Re: The best 1911

http://www.springfield-armory.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/PI9208L_Featured.png The Springfield EMP is the most reliable small 1911ish gun I've found, but you won't touch one in your price range unless you can find a used one but even then it's 9mm or .40. This one seems the most appealing. And I...

Re: The best 1911

Those are kind of large and bulky. I'd prefer something I could at least occasionally use as a carry gun.

Re: Condition 0 carry

Is carrying a cocked and unlocked 1911 really any different than carrying an XD with a round in the chamber? No. But I would rather carry a P38 than an XD if I had the choice. XDs are great for a lot of reasons, but the margin of error is too low in my opinion. Does this mean you would not carry a ...

The best 1911

A common custom for me is to buy a new gun after I get my tax returns back. And seeing as it's about that time and I don't own any 1911s, I was thinking about getting one this year So I'm wondering, what is the best 1911 that meets the following requirements? - Costs less then 1200 dollars - Has an ...

Re: Gun shop robbery caught on camera

Notice the robber had a gun in each hand. I guess he never learned quality beats quantity. https://www.yahoo.com/news/georgia-gun-store-owner-shoots-kills-armed-robbery-225010637.html Meanwhile the family of the dead robber has set up a GoFundMe account. Oddly enough, his cause of death is not liste...

Interestingly enough, it turns out the citizen was actually a convicted felon who had his gun rights restored after completing his rehabilitation.

Armed Pizza deliveryman survives an ambush robbery

As far as tactical situations go, you don't get much worse then having a gun pointed at you inches from your face while your arms are full of pizzas and your gun is in your holster. I give this guy all the credit in the world for surviving and being able to shoot back despite being hit. Hopefully hi...

Re: Two bystanders intervene in robbery, one armed and one not

You seriously need to consider no longer reading and watching CNN. Just another example of how biased they are. They call the civilian without a gun who intervened and got killed as "being hailed a good Samaritan", and then showed his picture. The CCW holder who actually stopped the incid...

Two bystanders intervene in robbery, one armed and one not

Guess which one ended up stopping the incident and which one ended up dead? http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/23/us/san-antonio-mall-shooting-2-face-murder-charge-in-death-of-good-samaritan/index.html Of course this is nothing against the dead good guy. Re: Washington legislators propose bill to allow guns in sports stadiums

Republicans just took over the legislature and the presidency. That's naturally going to be a big change after 8 years of democratic control of the whitehouse. I don't see relevance since these laws are state level; red states have consistently worked to loosen gun laws and blue states have consist...

Re: Washington legislators propose bill to allow guns in sports stadiums

Washington keeps throwing me curve-balls; it seems they cannot make up their mind if they are for or against the Second Amendment. It will be interesting to see if this gets anywhere. Republicans just took over the legislature and the presidency. That's naturally going to be a big change after 8 ye...

Re: Bill Burr on home defense guns

The .44 was outdoors, but I have shot 9mm indoors without hearing protection. Again, not pleasant, but manageable. A suppressor would be best, but I'd rather use a 9, 45 or intermediate rifle round than a .22 if I had that option. Hopefully getting a suppressor will be a much more convenient option...

Re: Bill Burr on home defense guns

In my late teens I shot a .44 magnum without hearing protection. It wasn't pleasant, but I wasn't deafened. If anything, this guy just makes a good case for suppressors. Did you shoot it indoors? That can make a big difference. Burr is not a gun expert, and does not claim to be one, but his point a...

In Arizona, an armed citizen came to the aid of a police officer being beaten on the side of the road and most likely saved his life by killing the attacker http://ktar.com/story/1421534/arizona-state-trooper-shot-traffic-accident-10-near-phoenix/ Out of curiosity, how many here would do this? Re: Home owner kills invader with hunting rifle

If there is one caliber you can trust for a one-shot-stop, it would be a 30.06 Indeed. .30-06 is my favorite rifle caliber. When Jim Cirilo put together the elite NYPD stakeout squad in the 1960s, his team had access to a wide array of weaponry. Almost to a man, the preferred long gun of the team w...

I'm glad to see purse carry is only 13%. I thought it would be more. Does the source state how many people participated in the survey? I'd like to know if it was large enough to truly be representative sample.

CCW holder rescues Sheriff's deputy under assault

While intervening in 3rd party disputes is a risky move, it's pretty safe to assume who the bad guy is when you see a uniformed cop on the ground being beaten by a non-uniformed man.

I think maybe robbery but if I remember correctly, they walked away with nothing. These employees today should hold their head high. Hopefully it will provide the guy who s...
