Re: Informed Opinions on Taurus Revolvers Please

All in all, I think there is value to be had in Taurus revolvers, but you are more likely to be certain with the quality of a S&W or Ruger. Thanks for the detailed examples. This seems to be the resounding answer. There's an upside and a downside to Taurus' erratic QC - the upside is you might ...

Re: Nighthawk Hi Power

I recently ran across this while researching various rare versions of Hi Power. Apparently a now defunct company called Florida Arms manufactured Hi-Power frames in stainless steel and aluminum alloy, both of which were available with beavertails from the factory. https://forums.1911forum.com/showth...

Re: Illuminated reticle 1 - (×) scopes

While it's not the Strike Eagle, I've got a 3-9 power Vortex with illuminated reticle on my AK and I'm quite pleased with it. For only $200 or so it's been more than worth it.

Re: SAA

A conversion cylinder that would enable shooting .45 ACP in this gun would make it so much more enjoyable just due to ammunition cost, availability and massive selection. I've been having similar thoughts about a Blackhawk with both the .357 and 9mm cylinders. I've been meaning to add a revolver to...

Stock up on everything, not just the guns and ammo. $80 for each member of a household should be invested in 100 gallons of distilled water to have on hand for emergencies... as a minimum. Stock up on food that will last a few years at the least. I think a 3 month supply should represent a bare mini...

Informed Opinions on Taurus Revolvers Please

Looking for informed opinions based on firsthand experience or analysis of Taurus revolvers. Not interested in "everyone says they're junk" or "their reputation sucks". I already know that. I'm only interested in opinions from people who have actually used them (preferably over a...

Re: Weapon access in vehicle

Last couple years I've made a habit of keeping one of my pistols in a holster but on the seat next to me, covered with something but out of sight when driving through certain areas. Much quicker to get to than drawing from the hip. If I anticipate spending an unusually high amount of time in a vehic...

Re: Leather dye in unfinished stainless

Even with natural leather with no dye, the leather fibers will get into the pores of matte or parkerized metal. I used to carry with natural leather holsters, and I would end up with a black/tan pattern on the slide of the Arcus I was carrying at the end of the day. The only pistol I've carried whic...

I quit Facebook and other social media outlets last week Congratulations! and now find that I fill my idle time on Gun Broker where I've spent $6,000 in the last week alone. Obviously this cannot continue. Yeah, if you keep getting more guns, people might think you're some sort of poly-gun-ist. :lo...

https://s15.postimg.org/vd3oy6pyz/4006_3.jpg ...say again? With most DA/SA pistols that's not an issue. Sig, Beretta, FN, Taurus and CZ and most other manufacturers of DA/SA pistols generally use a ring or tang on the hammer for a reason. the double action trigger pull for the first shot does not m...

Re: S&W 3rd gen collection growing

Even if the first shot is harder for most individuals to hit with, especially at speed, there's two points to consider. 1) As MisterB pointed out, the hammer can be cocked manually if carrying hammer down on a loaded chamber. This could be a viable option at distance or if you had advance warning an...

Re: S&W 3rd gen collection growing

I don't believe in the concept of "rapid fire" :?: If I have to use my gun as an impact weapon, I've done something very wrong anyway. Guns can run empty or jam. If you're at contact distance, a handgun can still be extremely effective for striking with. Not an ideal situation, but the op...

Re: S&W 3rd gen collection growing

I can't help but find them to be a tad bit obsolete in that they are steel framed and have a double action first shot. After carrying a Glock, I strap on an all steel gun and it feels like I'm wearing a Volkswagen. This gets me to wondering. My usual carry gun is all steel and has an unloaded weigh...
