While browsing at my local Cabela's today I happened by the Safelert (Product Link). Scanning the package it seemed simple enough.

Essentially you put the batteries in it, configure it (connect it to your local home network), and put it in your safe. The whole process takes less than ten minutes. You select what triggers you want (open safe door, closed safe door, movement, temperature, humidity, internet connectivity and battery life) and how you want to be notified (email, text message and/or smart phone app). That's it; nothing more required.

There's even a handy application for your smart phone or tablet that will allow you to log in at any time and check the current status of your gun safe(s). At $200 this is very economical peace of mind. I tested every possible test I could imagine and the product works as advertised.
