Last couple years I've made a habit of keeping one of my pistols in a holster but on the seat next to me, covered with something but out of sight when driving through certain areas. Much quicker to get to than drawing from the hip. If I anticipate spending an unusually high amount of time in a vehicle, I carry one of my guns in a shoulder holster. Also much easier to get to.

On long drives I tuck a Remora with my carry weapon between console and driver's seat. Very secure, it sticks up enough to grip but is not easily seen from the windows. Before exiting I can easily slip them under my shirt. Extra magazines go in the door pocket.
