Redying a holster?

Postby Nathan » Fri Oct 23, 2015 6:57 pm

I've a holster with special meaning that is well worn. I'd like to dye it again to return it to presentation grade. Is this possible?

Yes.

Generally to re-dye leather you need to first gently sand off the original surface finish and then apply the dye. Polishing can be time consuming and tricky - getting a smooth finish can be difficult but it is not impossible. If you want it to be presentation grade, I would send it to someone who knows what they are doing.

Thanks. I have very good reason to believe that I own the last holster that Lou Alessi built personally before passing away. I'd like to restore it to its original condition.
