A few in-progress pics

Postby deadguy » Tue Jan 27, 2015 11:39 am

The first pistol I had ever owned was given to me after the original owner passed away. It is a 1983 production year Colt Mk IV Series 80. After a bit of waffling on whether or not to have it customized or to have the work done on a Springfield 9mm Range Officer, I decided to go with the Colt.

I sent the pistol to Lou Biondo at Business End Customs. He has been cranking out some stellar work on 1911s, and I knew he would do a fantastic job on this one. There will be more work done than shown below, but for now, this is what we have.

In its unmolested state

For front strap and MSH texture, I decided to go with 25lpi on this one. Lou sent it to the one and only Pete Single for the work.

My choice for replacement sights was easy. Lou has recently designed and had produced his own rear sight. The front sight will be a simple black blade.

A little extra touch on the top of the slide.

Credit goes to Lou, with the exception of the first one. Thank you.

I am hoping it will be on the bench soon.

this sights look pretty similar to the hennie straight-eight sights. The work looks great, should be a good looking gun when its all said and done

It's done. Grips pictured are for photos only. I'll be installing a set of Colt grips when I get it back.

Like driving a new car. Probably has that new gun smell. Nice enough for church on Sunday!

I am extremely jealous. That is beautiful.

She's here. A few obligatory "in hand" pics

I cannot say enough about his work and the build experience. A truly good guy and talented smith.

The 1911 is still considered the #1 pistol. It is a true 'point and shoot' gun.
