Red Dots

Postby yankeejib » Thu Dec 21, 2017 10:29 am

I picked up a 1X Red Dot sight from a friend who didn't need it. I put it on one of my AR's to try it out. It seems very low and not very comfortable to sight. In fact, so low it's below the front blade. I guess I need a riser? Should I try to space it so it taps the top of the front blade or get above it? How far fore/aft do you mount it on the rail. I'm assuming (uh oh) that the farther away you place it from your eye, the more accurate it is? Thanks in advance....

IIRC, no accuracy gain up close or further away from the eye so long as you can see the dot. Furthermore it need not be centered. I will be experimenting with a Delta Point Pro 2.5 moa on a CZ85B once it comes back from the smith (CGW). I'm not interested in co witnessing with Irons for my non-SD purposes. If I really like it for long range target shooting, then I may decide to to have a slide milled down for a lower profile. Gonna be a while, though, to wait for the turn around.
Best regards,
