Is there any difference in .38 ballistics when they are fired from a .357 rather than from a .38? Just curious.

none that I am aware of when shooting from similar firearms.

Some will tell you that there is a slight decrease in velocity, usually in the order of 50 fps or so. That's a fairly negligible difference, if it exists at all. Best thing to do if you're worried about velocity is to chronograph a few rounds of the ammo you plan on carrying through the particular firearm, but I really wouldn't sweat it.
