Maybe they thought this would be popular for them since they are based in an anti-gun state. Really, do they not realize they have out of state fans? Or that football fans tend to be more conservative then the general population in CA?
As for the whole take a knee thing, I never cared about that at all. I love football, but what the players do during the anthem has zero interest for me. They can text on the their or call their parents during the anthem for all I care. The only thing I find annoying is how much people keep paying attention to it and acting like it's a big deal. It isn't. If people just ignored the practice, it would go away.
I also don't get how taking a knee is even considered a type of protest. Taking a knee is a gesture of loyalty, submission ,and respect. That's why when someone gets knighted by a king, they kneel in front of him. That's why when the coach calls the players in for a pep talk at the end of practice, they take a knee around him. So taking a knee to something as a form of protest makes no sense at all.
