They're not jacketed soft point, but they are 180 grains. Best I could find at the moment.

unfortunately, these just punch nice clean holes. they are designed for penetration. I know Remington makes the round i look for, but i might have to wait until it gets closer to whitetail season to find loaded ammo or components or pick up a few boxes of Hornady 180gr XTP's

I'm not finding much either. That said, every day I carry Remington 180 grain SJHP .357 Magnum in both my primary carry (686+ 2.5") and my back up (J-Frame). I would have no issue recommending it for whitetail deer. Being SJHP it's going to expand beautifully and being 180 grain .357 Magnum it's going to hit like a truck and penetrate like Quagmire on Viagra. 
Were you hunting bear I would hold out for the SP loads but I'm confident that the SJHP would do just fine for deer and it's readily available.

giggity giggity! If i were hunting bear i'd be using 180gr + hard cast.
