It's amazing what simple maintenance will do.

Maintenance and inspection to catch things before they go south along with temp control is the key to longevity.
Install a trans temp gauge and keep it as close to 170 as possible and that $2500+ transmission will always live a lot longer fellow members.
Most rigs these days have factory installed cooler but in hot climates or hauling heavy loads it's not enough to keep temps down as low as needed for long life. Buy the biggest cooler you can fit directly behind the grill and run an inline thermostat to let the trans fluid warm up before circulation and you're good to go! Temps over 200 degrees shorten a transmissions life in half, over 250 their life is rated in hours.

Congratulations, you sure put on a lot more miles than I do. I've got a 96 F250 Powerstroke 4x4 and 2002 F350 Crewcab 7.3L Powerstroke 4X4 and love them both but the 96 only has 140,000 and the 2002 85,000. Both have been great trucks and I change oil every 3000 miles.

I bought this beauty still under warranty from the first owner who babied it. It might be broken in now with 120K miles, mostly with the Lance camper and boat, coast to coast, north to south, and Mexico too. No trouble. It's the last of the 12 valve, mechanical injection, no computer Cummins engines, nothing to go wrong. It gets synthetic oil every 7000 miles.

I won't post a photo of my Chevy truck. It is blue like yours, but has some "character" from hauling and working on the farm. Everyone needs a truck.
Maintain the sport. Take a kid shooting.

We have a 2002 Escalade EXT that we bought new and has just reached 245,000 miles. It often pulls a 14' trailer with loads from a few hundred pounds to three tons. Mobil 1, Purolator filter & grease every 5,000 miles plus GM recommended maintenance. Have had to replace the AC compressor, alternator, a transfer case bushing, two sets of rear brake pads (still the originals on front) and several sets of tires. Been a great truck.
