Allow search engine indexing?

Postby Nathan » Thu Dec 04, 2014 11:47 am

I'm interested in your feedback on this. Should we allow search engine access to our content on this forum?
Thanks!

Can we do internal searching without allowing webbots?

Yes; external search engines have nothing to do with internal DB searches.

I think we should at least at first. It brings a lot of new members and potential enthusiasts to the page and is a solid collection of information for those interested in CC. if it seems like we have an issue later on then remove the feature.

I agree. We will surely cover material that will draw interest. However, it is always hard to foresee any issues that allowing it may pose. I'll vote yes for now, but certainly think we may want to monitor and re-assess later.

Is it possible to let the search engine bots in without letting the scammer bots in?

I voted "No" because of the stuff that shows up on some of the other boards I peruse. The car enthusiast forums seem to draw the most crap.
