.45 Raptor
.45 Raptor
Anyone shooting this? Any advantage to consider this over the .458 SOCOM?

Re: .45 Raptor
it got popular in MI for a bit when the shotgun hunting rules were changed. Right now the 450 bushmaster seems to be the king of big bore ARs around here with many ive talked to who have adopted the round. it has solid performance out to about 300 yards on whitetail deer.

Re: .45 Raptor
It’s a rimless 460 S&W mag used in a large framed ARs. Anything the SOCOM has the raptor has more of (velocity, energy, range, recoil, weight, etc...).

? The SOCOM can be loaded to 600 grains. I thought the .45 Raptor was less than the SOCOM?

Re: .45 Raptor
Regarding weight I was referencing the weapon instead of the bullets. The raptor uses 45 caliber pistol bullets which typically top out at 300 grains.
I looked into the raptor and decided against it because my big bore needs are sastified. Well... for now anyway
A few months back, I heard that Wilson had developed a 458 hammer (hmr??) that’s supposed to have a significant advantage over the SOCOM. Not sure about a it’s current status though.
